Silkscreen

Silkscreen Printing

Silkscreen printing is a technique for printing from a stencil. The stencil is made of an open-mesh fabric stretched across a frame. The screen has openings through which ink can pass and thus create an image on the fabric. The process of silkscreen printing involves four steps:

1) Preparing the screen
2) Applying ink to the screen
3) Putting the screen onto the substrate (e.g., t-shirt, paper, etc.)
4) Removing the screen to reveal the finished product

The process is similar to that of other printing techniques, but it has some particularities that make it stand out as well as some limitations that have to be taken into account when designing a logo or designing other images for print.
